Neglect is a form of nursing home abuse and malpractice which involves the failure to provide proper care, nutrition, cleanliness and medical attention for the elder patients in the care of a nursing home. Elder neglect can be difficult to detect, as outward signs may not be immediately obvious. However, there are some signs which may indicate nursing home neglect. These include: poor personal hygiene, dirty rooms or environments, untreated injuries, prolonged sickness or injury, weight loss and malnutrition.
