Physical Abuse

Physical abuse includes any force or violence which causes pain and suffering. Physical abuse may include such actions as: hitting, pushing, slapping, beating, kicking, using restraint unnecessarily and other forms of physical violence.

Because many elders may not be physically capable of defending themselves, they may find that they have become victims of physical abuse at the nursing home where they are currently residing. It is important for relatives to be aware of the signs of physical abuse, which include: bruises, broken bones, recurring injuries, sprains and more.
